First Listen: The Slow Push
In their own words The Slow Push “make the kind of music that only hipless, pasty Caucasians can pull off.” This stiff, pleasantly jaded band from Down Under has frozen my heart into tiny little pieces.
We’ve fallen for their music pretty hard and we think you will too. Their first single, Lions, from their upcoming new album being released in June is available now!
Teitur Wants You to ‘Let the Dog Drive Home’
We are super giddy to welcome Teitur back to The Highway Girl!
Apart from having a successful career of his own and working with artists like Rufus and Martha Wainwright, Aimee Mann and John Mayer, Teitur has penned songs with Corinne Bailey Rae.
Teitur recorded his current album, Let the Dog Drive Home in Copenhagen, with some of his long time regular musicians, including drummer Derek Murphy, Bass Player Mikael Blak, and Nikolaj Torp Larsen, and a host of guest musicians, and backing singers.
The album, Let the Dog Drive Home, is a metaphor for relaxing and letting things just happen. The artwork for the album, is based on a series of drawings by Teitur of a dog character, reflecting some of the lyrics in the album.
You can watch the video for his song ‘You Never Leave L.A.’ for free over on Teitur’s artist page. We know you’ll love this album!

Evan McHugh: 14 Days of Covers
Evan McHugh is a talented Nashville based singer-songwriter who we featured on our show back in January 2009. New Years Day to be exact.
At the time, Evan had just released “From The Second Chair” and we were thrilled to have him treat us to a live performance featuring a song from that album. Since then his career has continued to flourish and he has just released his new album “The World Will Move Along.”
Over on his blog, Evan announced that for the next 14 days he would be doing a new cover video each day. He crowd-sourced his play list and the fans responded by requesting covers by Coldplay, Elliot Smith and The Beatles.
So take a minute or two and check out the amazing covers by this talented artist. Don’t forget, you can connect with Evan on Twitter and Facebook too!
